The Assistant Director for Campus Life manages the day to day operation of the Office of Campus Life and provides leadership and support to key student organizations including Bates College Student Government, Ronj Coffeehouse, Breaks at Bates, The Bates Student Newspaper, and Senior Week Co-Chairs. They also lead efforts related to senior week programming, the Campus Life Equity and Inclusion Peer Advisors, and student clubs, and oversees a variety of training and orientations that center student leadership development utilizing the Bates Leads framework, including building programs for civil discourse. The Assistant Director for Campus Life works closely and collaboratively with the Coordinator of Campus Life Programming and First-Year Experience to provide leadership and guidance for student club events and program, including event management when appropriate and as needed. |

This hands-on position provides direct support for an increasingly diverse Bates College community utilizing excellent customer service skills. The Bates Campus Safety Officer position is centered on the foundation of providing an excellent customer service experience; building relationships with faculty, staff, & students; engaging with the Bates community at events; and ensuring the safety and security of the Bates community. The Bates Campus Safety Officer is expected to be a common presence on campus; serve on the communications line, respond to calls for service (both emergency and routine); enforce college policy through a student support, accountability, and community lens; prepare and submit incident reports; and perform other duties as required by the Director of Campus Safety.
Joining a collaborative and cross-departmental team engaged in a co-produced campus safety model, the Campus Safety Officer will be on shift with other Campus Safety Officers & Coordinators of Residence Life on-call. In addition, the Office of Campus Life that sponsors events will have event staff and contracted security during large student events on campus.

Focused on high-impact practices, this position is accountable for the responsible stewardship, management and administration of the Kessler Scholars grant. The Coordinator for Events and Social Media for the Student Center for Belonging and Community will offer event and social media coordination, planning and support to all events of the center.
The Coordinator for Events and Social Media will be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date event master calendar of SCBC events, maintain a process for flier development, and maintain a regular online social media outreach strategy. Additionally, the Coordinator for SCBC Events and Social Media will be responsible for the outreach, promotion, and management of the center’s social media platforms for event and programmatic promotion through Instagram, Bates Engage and TeamUp. The Coordinator will serve as the SCBC’s representative for the monthly Campus Partners Social Media meetings.
The Coordinator for Events and Social Media will collaborate with center staff members to develop a social media strategy for upcoming affinity celebrations and cultural awareness days and months. The Coordinator will maintain an up-to-date calendar and system for promotion of Awareness events as they relate to the work and values of the SCBC. The Coordinator for Events and Social Media will also be responsible for maintaining the SCBC’s event historical records through photo taking at events, ensuring participant photo consent at each event, participant sign-ins, headcount, and/or registrations. The Coordinator will also be responsible for sending out event reflection/feedback forms to participants after each event.
