Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is seeking a strategic, innovative, and mission-driven leader to serve as its inaugural Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Reporting directly to the President, the CAO will oversee and integrate a wide range of administrative operations including human resources, information technology, public safety, facilities, and environmental health and safety. This executive will lead organizational transformation efforts to modernize operations, enhance institutional effectiveness, and align administrative functions with RPI’s strategic goals. The CAO will be a key member of the President’s Cabinet, responsible for guiding operational strategy, promoting a high-performing culture, and fostering collaboration across academic and administrative units. The ideal candidate will bring at least 15 years of senior leadership experience in complex institutions—preferably in higher education, nonprofit, or public sectors—and a track record of driving change, operational excellence, and inclusive leadership. This full-time role is based in Troy, New York.
