Job Summary:
The Member Services & Benefits Division of the Arizona State Retirement System is seeking an individual to fill one senior, supervisory role within the Development and Appointment Program Area
Job Duties:
Coordinating the onboarding and training programs for all incoming Retirement Specialist (Entry) including but not limited to the training schedule, mentor training and schedules, training materials updates, and completing the feedback loop with new hires and mentors
Overseeing the cross-training opportunities for the Member Services Division to help ensure that processes are established and followed
Supervising the Development 2 Team where staff is engaged in responding to member inquiries via telephone/email/web interactions regarding membership rules and benefits
Planning, scheduling, and prioritizing workload; reviewing work flow of unit, recommending and implementing procedural changes
Supervising, supporting, and motivating staff to ensure organizational goals are accomplished; providing opportunities for training, decision making, participation, and innovation; setting team and individual goals
Reading and interpreting codes, laws, and regulations and resolving technical or work procedural problems and questions
Compiling information for and preparing reports on activities of the work unit
Conducting employee performance appraisals
Resolving transactions regarding membership rules and estimation and distribution of benefits as applicable to individual members
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of call management systems, quality measures, statistics and forecasting models
Depth and breadth of knowledge regarding retirement benefits, refund provisions, member account maintenance, calculating pension benefits, service purchase, service audit, health insurance, and long-term disability plan
Proven ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment
Ability to change focus quickly and redirect resources to address changing business needs
Proven experience coaching, mentoring, and providing effective performance-based feedback
Proven knowledge of and ability to understand and apply federal, state and agency laws, regulations and policies
Proven knowledge of management and program policies, practices and procedures
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
Proven ability to establish and maintain positive work relationships
Proven advanced level knowledge of various computer programs, with emphasis on Excel and Word
Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and leadership
Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines with accuracy
Selective Preference(s):
Ideal candidate will have 4 years of supervisor/leadership experience with ASRS and a four-year college degree in business, public administration or related field
Ideal candidate will have experience with hiring, training and developing staff, formal performance reviews, and handling related employee issues
