The Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions licenses, monitors, investigates, examines, and ensures the safety and soundness of, regulated entities. The Department also helps resolve consumer complaints against financial-services and insurance entities; takes action in response to violations of law; encourages competition, innovation, and economic development; collects taxes and assessments that support State government operations; combats auto theft and insurance fraud through public awareness campaigns, and funding for law enforcement and dedicated prosecutors.

Our mission is to help Arizonans receive the benefits and protections to which they are legally entitled by enforcing insurance and financial institutions laws by providing information and assistance and to combat vehicle theft.

Job Summary:

The Insurance Compliance Technician performs administrative work of average difficulty under general supervisor of the Chief Financial Compliance Officer. Coordinate and oversee activities of the Solvency Support Unit operations and functions in a manner that supports the goals and priorities of the Solvency Regulation Program.

Receive and review renewal filings, and issue renewal licenses of insurance related entities. Provide authoritative information regarding statutory filing requirements, procedures and standards prescribed in Arizona Insurance Laws, Rules, written agency guidelines and NAIC publications. Assist with preparation of a variety of operational reports. Conduct research and prepare routine reports. Prepare a variety of correspondence. Design, revise and consolidate agency forms.


This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

• Direct work flow and sequence of annual filings, quarterly filings, and demographic change filings of insurers and insurance related entities. Examine filings. Perform data entry. Train and review the work of others performing data entry.

• Direct work flow of records management and record request filings. Examine records and record requests. Perform data entry. Train and review the work of others performing records management and record requests.

• Assist with preparation of operational reports. Conduct research. Draft/recommend revisions to Program procedures. Prepare a variety of correspondence.

• Respond to inquiries regarding Records Unit operations, provide authoritative information regarding statutory filing requirements, procedures and standards prescribed in Arizona Insurance Laws, Rules, and Agency guidelines, and provide authoritative information regarding records management and record request requirements, procedures and standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:
• Some knowledge of the principles and practices of administration and management.
• Knowledge of financial statement content, format and presentation.
• Knowledge of accounting and auditing terminology.
• Knowledge of personal computer software (Gmail, Excel/Sheets, Word/Docs)

Skill:
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Skills in understanding legal and financial terminology.
• Skills in organizing data.

Ability:
• Ability to learn administrative and managerial skills.
• Ability to analyze and resolve routine problems.

Selective Preference(s):

3 years responsible experience in a position requiring skills in oral and written communication, initiative, judgment and independence in the performance of duties.
