As an adviser for the International Student Services Office (ISSO), you will oversee student and exchange visitor program (SEVIS) transfers and manage all aspects of reporting requirements as a Designated School Official (DSO). This includes managing the Terra Dotta batch interface, coordinating with the SEVIS help desk for periodic data fixes, filing extensions of stay, processing change of status (COS) applications, handling travel abroad and reentry signatures and compliance, and managing all F-1 related procedures. You will collaborate with other universities to facilitate the I-20 transfer process and assist prospective students with related procedures. Additionally, you will oversee the registration of SEVIS-1 files to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) each quarter, work with admissions to determine quarterly transfers, and manage all related I-20 processes.

In this role, you will interpret U.S. immigration laws pertaining to F-1 non-immigrant status for international students, their dependents, and family members, counseling them on their status. You will also follow up with students regarding alerts and processes. You will create quarterly international student check-in lists to provide to staff before orientation, assist with student check-ins, and locate “missing” students who bypass check-in to ensure they meet with ISSO. You will also issue all initial attendance I-20s for F-1 students who have taken extended “leaves of absence” from SCAD, informing them if they need to apply for re-admission. Additionally, you will work with senior ISSO advisers to ensure smooth database workflow regarding major/minor, name, and address changes, and that all suspensions/dismissals are managed appropriately.

In this position, you will maintain data, including the entry of all foreign and domestic addresses, in Banner and Terra Dotta, to ensure accurate registration and enrollment audits. You will facilitate a seamless transition of SEVIS records in Terra Dotta, terminate non-active records after quarterly drop-add periods, and enter international student information in Banner’s GOAINTL screen.

The successful candidate will demonstrate exemplary communication skills to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds effectively. They must consistently meet internal and external deadlines and possess a working knowledge of STEM and other career-related matters. The candidate will also be knowledgeable in filing optional practical training (OPT) work authorization applications and curricular practical training (CPT).
