As a shop technician, you will guide students, faculty, and staff in their use of the shop's tools as well as its techniques and best practices. You will manage the shop's inventory using WebCheckout, ensure supplies are available for student projects, and help troubleshoot technical issues to enhance the learning environment. You will maintain the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of the shop equipment; provide outstanding customer service and help SCAD students from all academic departments meet their goals with shop resources; and anticipate and enforce all shop policies, procedures, and safety measures. Technical Production Manager in Atlanta
As a technical production manager, you will coordinate with internal departments and outside clients to promote events held at SCADshow, SCAD COURT, and the FORTY event space. You will serve as a liaison, working closely with clients to ensure equipment is correctly set up and operating for all events. You will manage sound, lighting, and technical operations during shows and events to ensure the equipment is in working order for continuous use. You will train, schedule, and manage technical leads, production leads, and student workers. Your responsibilities will also include planning meetings to assist with event ideation alongside the director of production. Among other duties, you will represent the department at meetings to present proposals for approval and will meet with outside rental groups to assess needs and develop cost sheets. In this position, you will maintain healthy working relationships with vendors and rental companies, assist with load-ins, manage rental equipment installations, track upcoming event needs, and place orders. For each event, you will work with the director of production to ensure the full value of the rental is paid. Occasionally, you will be asked to oversee off-campus and signature events to maintain the university’s high level of excellence. You will also assist with the technical operations of festivals such as SCAD TVfest and SCAD AnimationFest. This in an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and departments. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the high level of excellence at SCAD Atlanta. The successful candidate will conduct regular inventory and maintenance checks and operate lighting, sound, and projection equipment. This role requires the candidate to engage in evening and weekend work. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience Experience in managing or producing live theatrical events, lighting, and sound design Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Keynote Preferred Qualifications: Experience in rigging Travel Required: 10–20% Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday.
