General Summary

This position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support the efforts to prevent drug abuse and substance misuse in Washtenaw County. To help meet the needs of this important program, this position will help to create and implement and develop education materials, identify resources and strengthen referral networks for prevention. Will create relationships with sites as needed, organize staff as needed and facilitate prevention education cohorts using evidence based practice as guided by funders using approved curriculum.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in development and facilitation of evidence based prevention programming.
  • Under guidance, develop appropriate curriculum.
  • Participate in program evaluation to ensure projected goals are reached.
  • Help with monthly reports.
  • Work in partnership with state departments and attend community and statewide meetings as necessary.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of public health tools as applicable.
  • Develop education materials, social media, texting and website content as necessary.
  • Facilitate cohorts with Prevention@EMU as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with experience in public health, social work or substance abuse treatment field preferred or a combination of directly related college coursework and experience may be substituted.
  • Experience in public health program planning and implementation.
  • Experience working with community coalitions.
  • Demonstrated interest in human services.
  • Strong oral and written language skills.
  • Working knowledge of computers and software programs.
  • Offers of employment contingent upon acceptable background check.

  • Flexibility and ability to manage many concurrent projects, doing what is needed to make site successful.
