Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Department of Environmental & Public Health, Administration and Medical Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2025-2026. Applicants should hold at the time of appointment either an earned doctorate in Public Health or a doctorate in a related discipline with a master's degree in Public Health. Degrees must be from an accredited institution. The position begins August 2025.

The position serves core and major courses in the department, including courses in the B.S. in Public Health (with Health Promotion and Pre-Professional concentrations) and the Master of Public Health program (with a Health Promotion concentration). Applicants should demonstrate academic training and public health practical experience that complement the department’s expertise and resources. Demonstrated experience with relationship-rich education as well as student academic- and professional-readiness is preferred.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public health, including, but not limited to, general education, health promotion foundations, health data interpretation, program planning, health behavior theory, and community organization and advocacy in a 4/4 annual teaching load. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, may conduct academic advising, and will participate in service to the department, university, and community to build academic and public health practice collaboration, enhance student learning experiences, and foster relationships to impact the health of our communities. In addition, membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Applicants should hold at the time of appointment either an earned doctorate in Public Health or a doctorate in a related discipline with a master's degree in Public Health. Degrees must be from an accredited institution.

Licensure & Certifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• A minimum of an equivalent of one (1) year of full-time teaching experience in a public health program.
• A minimum of three (3) years of public health practice experience.
• Experience in obtaining external funding through grants and/or contracts.
• CHES or CPH certification.
