Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Senior Auditor performs confidential and complex financial, operational, and compliance audits to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of systems, processes, and controls. The incumbent may also conduct investigations of suspected irregular conduct. Such audits and investigations will be achieved by assessing risks and identifying audit objectives and scope for each review, developing audit programs, performing interviews and test work, developing clear and concise audit work papers to support findings and recommendations, and communicating the results of audit projects via written reports and oral presentations to management.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: -Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Accounting field.

-Master's degree is preferred.

Experience: -Two years of professional auditing experience is required.

Licensure & Certifications: -Professional certification is required.

-Acceptable certifications include Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Job Duties:

  • 90% - Under limited supervision, plans and executes independent appraisals of the design and effectiveness of the policies, procedures, and internal controls, in order to minimize institutional risks. Prepares acceptable work papers by researching, compiling, and analyzing audit evidence. Effectively communicates the results of projects and recommendations to management through written reports and oral presentations. Consults with and advises University employees on operational and administrative issues. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Participates in investigations and consultative engagements with both University personnel and external personnel/agencies. - (Essential)
  • 2% - Obtains continuing professional education required to maintain professional certification and to remain current in relevant modalities. - (Essential)
  • 2% - Participates in departmental and employee education of internal controls and policy and monitors the corrective actions taken by management. - (Essential)
  • 1% - Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
