Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Accessibility Coordinator is responsible for coordinating both academic and campus wide accommodations for students with disabilities. The incumbent is required to be in contact with EKU offices and off campus entities to meet the needs of students with disabilities. The incumbent is also required to inform the campus and community of issues related to disabilities and of the services of the Center for Student Accessibility through publications, presentations, or other means.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree is required in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Education or related field. Master’s Degree Preferred.

Experience: At least one year of experience required in the following areas.
•Experience in analyzing psychological-educational evaluations, medical records, audiograms, and neurological reports, to determine the appropriate academic adjustments, and campus wide accommodations for students with varied disabilities; including but not limited to Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, students with visual impairments, learning differences, mental health issues.
•Academic Impact of Disability
•Knowledge of ADA law; federal, state, and local and implementation thereof
•Knowledge of developing academic skills in college students with varied disabilities
•Knowledge of assistive technology, use of auxiliary aids, and software available to post-secondary students with disabilities
•Working knowledge of fundamental concepts regarding disability in higher education,
•Case management

Job Duties:

  • 70% - Provide assistance and customer service to college students with disabilities. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Coordinate and collaborate with EKU offices and other off campus entities to plan events/activities and to provide needed services to students with disabilities. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Supports office by completing all other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
