Job Summary/Basic Functions

EKU Housing & Residence Life fosters the development, engagement, and success of our residential community by providing a welcoming environment.

The Summer Camp Assistant (SCA) plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality customer service and operational support for summer camp and conference guests. SCAs assist with building preparation, check-in and check-out processes, guest services, and facility management, all while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.

Time Commitment & Schedule
Camp Assistants will work an average of 10-15 hours per week providing the above services for our camp and conference guests. In addition to these hours, camp assistants will serve on-call when camps and conferences are on-campus. Flexibility is essential, as schedules may include weekdays, evenings, mornings, and rotating weekends. This position requires adaptability and availability to accommodate the varying demands of summer camps and conferences.
Dates of Employment:
For 2025, this position will begin on Saturday, May 17 and continue until Saturday, August 16.

Benefits Package
Compensation includes a $850 stipend and free private living accommodation in the summer residence hall. Any additional hours worked will be paid at the hourly rate of $9.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Qualification:

  • Leadership experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Time management and organizational abilities

Enrollment Qualifications:

  • Have a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA
  • Full-time EKU student (enrolled in at least 12 credit hours as an undergraduate student or 9 credit hours as a graduate student) for the Fall 2025 semester, or be enrolled in summer courses.
  • Must be in good judicial standing with the University.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure facilities meet cleanliness, safety, and functionality standards, including conducting room inventory checks and preparing camp buildings for guest arrival. - (Essential)
  • Maintain common areas and guest spaces according to required standards. - (Essential)
  • Greet guests professionally, provide essential stay information, assign rooms, and distribute keys/fobs while enforcing security policies. - (Essential)
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing guest inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring guest needs are met. - (Essential)
  • Monitor premises for safety hazards, security breaches, and emergencies, responding as needed. - (Essential)
  • Execute check-out procedures, including room inspections, key/fob collection, resetting facilities, and reporting damaged or missing items. - (Essential)
  • Complete hands-on training in building preparation, guest services, check-in/check-out procedures, and emergency response. - (Essential)
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in practical training exercises to enhance service delivery and teamwork. - (Essential)
  • Serve on-call overnight to assist camp and conference guests and respond to emergencies. - (Essential)
  • Work complimentary desk hours in occupied residence halls outside of check-in/check-out periods to provide exceptional customer service. - (Essential)
  • Perform other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
