Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Counselor will join a team of Central Student Services staff servicing both undergraduate and graduate students with support for Financial Aid, Student Accounting, Registration, and other student related needs. The position will provide efficient and timely customer service to all customers, with specific focus on both telephone and in-person traffic. The counselor will be able to communicate clearly and effectively to the customer concerning the university processes. The counselor will also ensure the accurate translation of escalated student concerns while also remaining a participant in the total resolution of any issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience: One year of related experience required. Experience with customer service in higher education or office setting preferred.

Job Duties:

  • 35% - Manage the front desk services of the Central Student Service Office including coordination of front-desk activities, training student issues, and the day-to-day operations of the student worker positions within Central Student Services. - (Essential)
  • 35% - Provide support to the telephone queue for the Central Student Service Office, striving for quick and clear responses to customer inquiries. Where appropriate, the counselor will also provide excellent intake and escalate student concerns to the appropriate channels. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Advise and counsel prospective and current students and families on policy and processes, unique circumstances for individual applicants, and options for funding a college education, navigating the university billing, and facilitating course registration efforts. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. - (Essential)
