Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life is responsible for the overall development, assessment, evaluation, and management of the University Housing and Residence Life programs and budgets. The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining crisis management processes and procedures for the department.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field required.

Experience: Five full-time work experience in developing, administering, and evaluating university housing programs. Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop sizable staff of professionals, support staff, and students. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the development and articulation of a housing program rooted in a philosophy of student educational growth and development. Demonstrated capacity for professional growth and development, which includes a cohesive vision of a housing program at the University level. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff and faculty, including active collaboration with senior administrators of the University and appropriate community and business personnel.

Job Duties:

  • 60% - Provides strategic leadership, supervision, and oversight of University Housing and Residence Life programs, staff, and budgets: • Sets vision and goals for Housing and Residence Life • Manages budgets, develops proformas, and recommends housing rates • Ensures staffing, resources, and facilities meet student needs • Collaborates across campus to support student success and well-being • Develops and enforces policies that promote student growth and community welfare • Delegates responsibilities, monitors progress, and ensures accountability • Recommends operational improvements to leadership • Oversees documentation of departmental procedures • Promotes a customer-focused environment and resolves student concerns • Establishes and upholds service standards and operational procedures - (Essential)
  • 15% - Crisis Management: • Responsible for the development, coordination, and execution of crisis management protocols within the residence halls. • Reviews and updates Emergency Management Plans for all residential facilities to ensure preparedness and compliance. • Provides consultation and leadership during emergency situations outside of normal business hours, including incidents, facilities issues, disturbances, or other critical events. • Coordinates the departmental crisis response duty schedule and ensures timely communication with appropriate university officials during emergencies. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Assessment and Strategic Planning: • Leads assessment and evaluation efforts for Housing and Residence Life to ensure program effectiveness, continuous improvement, and alignment with best practices and CAS Standards. • Oversees analysis of departmental services, residential curriculum, and operations. • Recommends and implements changes based on findings. • Develops and manages short- and long-term strategic planning and forecasting for housing operations and budgeting. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Additional Responsibilities: • Supports the effective operation of Housing and Residence Life by serving as a campus resource, participating in university events and committees, and assisting with evening and weekend programs as needed. • May represent EKU Housing at EKU Spotlight Days, EKU Recruiting Receptions, and EKU New Student Orientation as well as many university committees. - (Essential)
