Job Summary/Basic Functions

To assist the Head Coach and all other Assistant Coaches and Staff in the administration of a Division I intercollegiate men's and women's Track and Field and Cross Country program that complies with the mission, guidelines, rules and regulations of the University, the conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). More specifically, this person is responsible for, but not limited to, coaching student-athletes who participate in distance and/or middle distance events and cross country, recruiting, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, interacting with internal and external constituents, administration of camps/clinics, and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, sport administrator and/or Director of Athletics.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree is required.

Experience: One year or less of work-related experience.

Job Duties:

  • 35% - Recruiting future Student-Athletes to EKU; evaluating potential student-athletes; appearing at high school events and coaching clinics.
  • 35% - Coaching – working with individual Student-Athletes and Student-Athletes in a group setting; developing training plans; working with other coaches to develop and implement training for Student-Athletes.
  • 10% - Preparing and guiding Student-Athletes at competitions.
  • 10% - Working on compliance and academic issues related to Student-Athletes.
  • 10% - Engaging in administrative task and completing other duties as assigned.
