Job Summary: Essential duties include teaching Astronomy 001, an introductory course for both majors and non-majors. The successful hire will evaluate student performance, assign grades, and interact with students through class discussions. There are two sections of Astronomy 001 in Fall 2024 with a cap of 50 students. These sections are taught twice a week at 11:00am – 12:15pm on Monday/Wednesday, and Tuesday/Thursday. The labs associated with Astronomy 001 are taught by the Laboratory instructor. |
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Astronomy or a closely - related field. |
Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Astronomy or a closely - related field. • Advanced ABD or Ph.D. in Astronomy or a closely - related field. Evidence of demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at the university level and continuing professional development is preferred. |
