Department Summary:

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director, Sports Performance, the sport performance coaches develop and implement comprehensive sport performance programs for assigned teams. They also assist full-time staff with team coverage, program development and implementation of additional teams.
The coach will partner with the sports medicine staff in the rehabilitation, strengthening and support of injured athletes. The coaches will regularly work cooperatively and collaboratively with other staff and departments They will communicate with assigned sport team coaches regarding sport performance training goals. They may be asked to provide facility supervision and maintenance, and perform other duties as assigned.
This is a 10-month appointments running from August through May with June and July off. Due to the nature of college athletics, the coaches may be required to work non-traditional hours that include nights, weekends, and holidays. Hours will vary based on training, practice, competition and recruiting schedules.
This job requires an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the Missouri Valley Conference, and Drake University.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree • SCCC or CSCS certification • First Aid/CPR/AED certification. • Human relations and interpersonal communications skills are necessary to effectively express all ideas and policies to athletes and personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Former student-athlete or past athletic experience • Previous strength and conditioning experience with a variety of collegiate sport teams
Job Duties:
100% - Explain and demonstrate training principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of body, hands, or feet in achieving proficiency in sport performance activities. Assist with organization and execution of athletics workout sessions. - (Essential)
