Department Summary: The Counseling Program in the School of Education at Drake University is CACREP accredited with specializations in clinical mental health, school, and rehabilitation counseling. The Counseling Program consists of four full time faculty and about ten adjunct faculty. Due to a retirement, the faculty are excited to embark upon this search for a new member of the tight knit team. The mental health counseling specialization is particularly popular among students, driving high interest in the program and strong enrollment numbers. |
Job Summary: The program is seeking an individual with expertise in clinical mental health counseling. There are a wide variety of teaching options available including counseling skills, practicum, career, research, group, trauma, human development, assessment, internship as well as elective courses of the candidate’s choice. The successful candidate will have a 3/3 teaching load in the fall and spring as well as the expectation of teaching 2 classes in the summer for additional compensation. The candidate will also have one course release in their first year, to be taken in either the fall or spring semester. |
Minimum Qualifications: Have an earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program; ABD candidates will be considered with the expectation of degree completion within the first semester of appointment; or Have a related doctoral degree and have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013; or Have been employed as a full-time doctoral-level faculty member in a CORE-accredited master’s program prior to July 1, 2017 |
Preferred Qualifications: Licensed or eligibility for and attainment of the Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Iowa within three years of appointment Availability to teach two classes in the summer for additional compensation (with the possibility of teaching online) |
