Job Summary:

The Graduate Admissions Coordinator for the Drake School of Education (SOE) is a key point of contact for all potential graduate students and applicants by providing phone, email, and walk-in inquirers with information about Drake university and SOE graduate degree and certificate programs. The Graduate Admissions Coordinator assists applicants throughout their admissions process and works extensively in Slate (Drake's Client Relationship Management System) to provide resolutions, process and route applications, and release admissions decisions. This individual works with cross-campus colleagues to generate Slate process improvements and coordinate international student applications and represents SOE graduate programs at special events with external partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or an Associate Degree with at least five years of experience working in higher education

Job Duties:

  • 40% - Student Recruitment: Reply to initial calls, emails, and walk-ins from potential graduate students for all in person SOE graduate degree and certificate programs. Schedule appointments as needed. Follow leads that come from online and faculty/staff referrals. Provide basic program information for potential graduate students, supplying documentation of program outlines and general curriculum information. Work with the SOE Marketing Coordinator to develop communications campaigns to prospective and current applicants, as well as recently admitted students. - (Essential)
  • 35% - Application Processing: Assist applicants throughout their admission process. Monitor application feeds from Slate (Drake’s Client Relationship Management system) to Banner and provide necessary resolutions in both systems. Process and route completed applications to faculty members and continue communication with applicants and departments until the final admission decision is made. Release admission letters, process admitted applications in Banner, and file applications in Teams. Work with cross-campus colleagues to coordinate international student applications and enrollment. Supervise the Drake employee to enter transcripts into WebXtender. Use Slate to provide applicant pool updates to SOE administration, as well as faculty members for use in recruitment and class registration. Catalog Slate email inbox. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Serve as the “face” of Drake Graduate Degree and Endorsement Programs. Consider the current enrollment and potential for growth, create a process for balancing the face-to-face interactions related to recruitment with the process of admission for all Teaching and Learning and Leadership and Counseling Programs. Attend college fairs or special events to promote SOE degrees and endorsements and lead campus tours for students. Assist with the development of new cohorts/partnerships to share new admission processes possible with Drake’s online application system (SLATE). Work with cross-campus graduate admission colleagues on collaborative opportunities and systems problem solving and attend monthly Graduate Operations Admissions Team meetings. - (Essential)
