Job Summary:

Drake University is seeking a highly qualified Director of Equipment Operations to oversee all areas of the athletic department’s equipment room and operations. This position is responsible for establishing a philosophy and operational plan for procurement, inventory, disbursement, and maintenance of athletic equipment for 18 intercollegiate NCAA DI athletic programs. The successful candidate will work with coaches to coordinate, purchase, inventory, and maintain all department apparel and gear. Additionally, this position requires preparing budgetary recommendations and monitoring, verifying, and reconciling the expenditure of budgeted funds.

Minimum Qualifications:

2 years of experience in equipment operations

NCAA Division I athletics program or professional sports team experience preferred

AEMA certification preferred

Experience with equipment purchasing, distribution, collection, and laundering

Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Excellent organization and communication skills

 

Job Duties:

All of the job duties described below require an understanding of and compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the Missouri Valley Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, the Pioneer Football League, and/or the Summit League, as well as Drake University.

30% - Coordinate equipment room operations, including working with coaches to coordinate, purchase, inventory, and maintain all departmental apparel and gear.

20% - Ensure all teams have proper apparel and gear for practice and competition.

20% - Prepare budgetary recommendations and monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds to ensure fiscal solvency.

15% - Coordinate athletics laundry and uniform repair.

15% - Supervise two full-time assistants and student staff.
