Job Summary
The Student Engagement Specialist supports student success by assisting with the college’s communication strategy and facilitating student engagement opportunities. This position plays a key role in delivering clear, timely student communications while helping to build a connected campus community through co-curricular programming and leadership development initiatives.
Job Duties:
Student Engagement Programming:
Develop and facilitate student engagement programming, including co-curricular activities, student organizations, and campus events that foster connection and belonging.
Collaborate with campus partners to promote student involvement and increase participation in engagement opportunities.
Support the planning, logistics, and evaluation of programs to ensure a high-quality student experience.
Serve as the Student Government Association and Student Ambassador Advisor.
Student Leadership Development:
Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of student leadership development initiatives.
Facilitate workshops, trainings, and leadership opportunities that promote student growth, persistence, and success.
Provide guidance and support to student leaders and organizations to strengthen leadership capacity and organizational effectiveness.
Student Communication Support:
Assist in the implementation of the college’s student communication plan, ensuring timely and accurate outreach aligned with key academic and enrollment milestones.
Assist in the development and distribution of multi-channel communications (e.g., text, email, CRM platforms) to engage students and promote participation.
Provide support for communication technologies, including assisting with the implementation and use of new tools such as AI chatbots.
Assist in training and ongoing learning related to communication platforms and emerging technologies to enhance student engagement and service delivery.
Collaboration & Support:
Work collaboratively with departments across the college to align communication and engagement efforts with institutional priorities.
Contribute to a positive, student-centered environment that supports access, retention, and overall student success.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the college.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Two to four years of relevant experience
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and support programs or activities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills applicable to outreach, marketing, customer service, or stakeholder engagement
Experience supporting, coaching, or guiding individuals or groups to achieve goals
Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and communication tools
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting student leadership development initiatives or training programs
Familiarity with CRM systems, mass communication tools, or student engagement technologies
Experience assisting with campus‑wide communication strategies or campaigns
Previous experience in a community college setting
