Job Duties
Virginia Defenders – Indigent Defense Commission (IDC) is seeking a Human Resources Analyst to join the Human Resources team in providing support to the HR department and to the 600+ employees of the agency. We are expanding due to growth in our agency and this is an opportunity to join the team. VIDC is dedicated to protecting and defending the rights and dignity of clients through zealous, compassionate, high-quality legal advocacy. The Human Resources Analyst reports to the Human Resources Director. The VIDC is an independent agency and all positions are at-will employment.
Duties and responsibilities for the Human Resources Analyst position include but are not limited to:
- Maintain various HR spreadsheets (excel).
- Record processing and retention.
- Data entry in Cardinal Human Capital System.
- Processing new hires, promotions, transfers, separations.
- Requesting and tracking required new hire paperwork.
- Onboarding new employees, bi-monthly, in a timely fashion.
- On-going support responding and answering employee questions.
- Assisting the Human Resources Department with special projects and other duties as assigned- specifically automating forms and updating the (internal) HR intranet page.
- Coordinate with Finance and Department of Accounts on payroll changes.
- Creating training modules.

Minimum Qualifications
Proofreading, editing, and accuracy are required. Managing multiple systems with attention to detail is required. Success in this position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to perform duties promptly and within deadlines. Must be able to work collaboratively and independently. Qualified applicants must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
Qualified applicants must have strong technical system skills including working with Microsoft Suite applications, spreadsheets, and Google documents along with the ability to manage electronic and manual filing systems. The ability to process documents while protecting confidentiality and protecting employees’ private information is required. The ability to work within and meet deadlines, especially at times of high volume of processing is required. Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
Additional Considerations
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Finance, or relevant HR experience is preferred. Experience automating processes and researching/recommending applications for processes is preferred. The ability to convert documents to fillable PDF forms and experience revising web pages is preferred.
