Position Summary

Serves as Grill Cook lead worker – Multi-tasking skills on grill orders, maintain speed without compromising food quality, execute grill menu items to order, ability to train new staff, and assists with Food Service Director in various Cafeteria functions. A Cook lead worker should have a passion for food, working in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and time management.

Holistic Student Support

  • Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts
  • Great customer service skills
  • Skills are oral and written for giving and following instructions and directions, personable communication skillset to adequately train new team members, maintaining excellent work relationships, and #1 great customer service for all guests.

Fiscal Stewardship

  • Maintaining and teaching hygienic work spaces through daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules of equipment and stations.
  • Observe and test food for quality and temperature
  • Knowledge of materials, cooking methods, food equipment, safety and sanitation, principles of lead cook leadership.
  • Knowledge and skill set of all set-up and breakdown of food service stations

Program Innovation

  • Ability to be Cross-Trained in multiple positions with ability to fluctuate when needed
  • Lead and Assist in preparing meals including washing, peeling, cutting, slicing, baking, grilling, and steaming foods.
  • Preparing all meals as instructed by Food Service Director
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to prepare food items with little micro-management, evaluate situations and make decisions, perform duties in a timely manner, work as part of a team, stand for extended periods of time, work in fast paced environment, excellent communication and leadership skills, exceptional organizational time management, and problem solving skills.

Organizational Culture

  • Assist to oversee food handling and preparation in cafeterias and leads this by example
  • Ability to train new team members according to Food Service Director’s training manual while upholding & teaching the positive culture set forth.

Salary Range: $32,834 - $38,580
