Position Summary

The English Language Learning program is seeking part-time ESOL instructors to teach weekday evening classes in our English Basic Skills (EBS) program for the upcoming fall semester beginning in September and October. EBS classes range from beginning to high intermediate proficiency levels and focus on developing language competency, life skills, and cultural knowledge.  We have a particular need for instructors able to teach in south county (Lothian and Tracy's) but are also seeking instructors to teach in the Glen Burnie, Arnold, and Arundel Mills areas.

Candidates invited for an interview will be asked to give a short teaching demonstration. Please mention your schedule availability and location preferences in your cover letter.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to teaching, instructors are responsible for: assessing and recording student progress and attendance, meeting required deadlines for submitting grades and other administrative tasks, and participating in department professional learning events.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in TESOL, education, or related field.
One year experience teaching TESOL or related subject.
Availability to teach two evenings per week (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) or on Saturday mornings.
Experience working with populations from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Proficiency using computers and classroom technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Competency in Spanish is a plus.
