Position Summary Academic Advisors are responsible for guiding and assisting students in the development of educational, career, and transfer plans through the assimilation of information from a variety of digital sources, including course selection, interpretation of academic rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and intervention and referral to appropriate services and resources. Academic advisors are expected to be proficient with online tools and current technology, and to stay up to date with holistic advising strategies as they work to assist students in accomplishing their goals. Academic advisors serve on advising teams, regularly communicate with student groups, and act as liaisons to AACC departments. The goal of this position is to collaborate with other engagement and high-impact practices on campus and increase retention and pathways to completion for all students. The advisor will participate in success strategies designed to eradicate achievement gaps, with an emphasis on equity and sustained academic achievement. Lastly, the expectation for this position is for the advisor to support students' academic and career momentum as they progress toward meaningful careers. |

Job Duties and Responsibilities Assist students in all phases of academic advising and career planning, & in the skills needed to develop an educational plan, leading to a guided pathway to completion and transfer. Evaluate records & provide detailed information on placement, program requirements, transfer requirements, curriculum choice, course selection, AACC policies, procedures, academic regulations, and use of online Self-Services. Ensure students begin all required developmental course sequences in the first term & continue in the sequence to facilitate readiness for credit coursework and timely degree completion. Respond to requested reviews in a timely manner and maintain digital records and advisor notes. |

Preferred Qualifications: Community college advising experience preferred. |
