Title: Piping Plover Monitor

Job Summary/Basic Function:

Monitors will conduct walking surveys (up to 14 miles/day) of Piping Plover habitat to identify plovers present. Will document courtship, nesting, incubation, hatching, and fledging activities and success. Will report to Dr. Garvon daily and interact with other university and agency personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience as piping plover monitor

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as piping plover monitor and has lived in remote (off grid) situation.

Physical Demands:

Ability to walk up to 14 miles per day on uneven terrain and soft sand carrying up to 40 lbs in a backpack. Ability to tolerate insects, sun and overcast weather for up to 8 hours. Ability to see finite markings using binoculars or spotting scope.

Work Hours: 

Variable - includes weekends
