Position Summary

The Custodial Supervisor position is responsible for providing leadership, planning, and direction. A Custodial Supervisor oversee events and work crews to ensure procedures are being followed and to maintain the high standards of the University's cleanliness. Th Custodial Supervisor also ensure proper training is complete.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without ‘giving out' or fatiguing during cleaning.
• The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
• Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Ability to communicate information to supervisors or co-workers by telephone or in person.
• Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment.
• Ability to carry out instructions whether it be verbal or in written form.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports, procedural guides, and correspondence in the English language.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of the University.
• Become knowledgeable of TMA work-order system

 

Job Duties

  • Maintain Cleanliness of Campus
    • Perform routine inspections and audits in buildings and custodial closets.
    • Train personnel, and existing, of cleaning procedures and methods.
    • Notate cleaning needs and cases of exceptional work.
  • Audits and Supplies
    • Perform audits on maintaining custodial closets and buildings to ensure they are in a neat and orderly fashion.
    • Request supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. Manage the proper methods for supply order sheets from staff and enter requests after a thorough critique of needs.
  • Staff Expectations
    • Maintain significant occurrence forms accordingly and conduct annual staff evaluations.
    • Oversee events to ensure cleanliness of campus is maintained and staff are following procedures.
    • Conduct routine and random inspections of work crews to ensure proper work practices are being followed
  • Reporting Maintenance Issues Found on Campus
    • Notify the proper channels with repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, or electrical systems are needed.
  • Annual Training
    • Perform other duties deemed necessary by the Manager of Custodial Operations
    • Attend and utilize information provided by yearly training.
