Classification Summary:
Teach courses on a temporary part time basis over fall and spring semesters. May conduct classroom assessment of student learning and participate in program/division/college assessment. Teaching assignment may include day, evenings, weekends, and/or multiple campus locations. Develop, revise and update curriculum in collaboration with the department faculty and director or chair. May develop and teach online courses. Instruct, support, advise and provide timely feedback to students in accordance with DACC policy and procedures.Maintain professional and academic competence and participate in professional development activities. As appropriate, assist with cooperative education or clinical work site development and student placement. Maintain office hours as mandated by division and college policy. Participate in student recruitment activities. Function as advisor to students, both individually and as assigned to student clubs and groups. Perform other related duties as assigned
Classification Standard Duties:
Assist in developing, revising, and updating curriculum in collaboration with the lead department faculty member.
Develop and teach online or in-person courses.
Instruct, support, advise and provide timely feedback to students in accordance with DACC policy and procedures.
Maintain professional and academic competence and participate in professional development activities and meetings as required.
Submit required course (e.g., syllabi, grades, attendance reports, etc.) and employment-related documents (e.g., transcripts) in a timely manner.
Maintain a clear record of all student evaluations and grades.
Uphold the department's mission and vision.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Applicant must have a Master's Degree in either Anthropology, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Health Law, Psychology, Public Health, Political Science, Journalism, Social Work, Sociology, or related fields.
Or a Master's Degree and 18 graduate credits in one of the disciplines listed or a related field.
Degree must be in hand by date of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
Three years teaching experience.
Experience teaching post-secondary students.
Experience with media, evolving instructional technologies, and distance learning programs.
Demonstrated experience teaching and relating to students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
Bilingual competence in Spanish and English will be considered an asset.
