Summary:  College of ACES Academic Program is seeking a Student Program Coord,Sr. to award, manage and reconcile all College and departmental scholarships.

Classification Summary:
Under limited supervision, develops, implements, and oversees a range of integrated special programs and initiatives designed to assist in the recruitment and retention of graduate and/or undergraduate students within an underrepresented target population or college. Responsible for the internal and external promotion and representation of program activities. Coordinates and provides support services to student participants as appropriate to program activities.

Classification Standard Duties:
Plans, develops, and coordinates student support programs, special projects, and other initiatives geared to the recruitment and retention of students within the targeted student population or college. Oversees and administers all facets of the day-to-day operations of the various programs and activities related to the position. Serves as primary liaison with internal and external contacts on all matters relating to the program(s) activities; represents the program(s) on a local, regional, and/or national basis. Provides and/or coordinates financial aid scholarship disbursement, academic advisement, career advisement, and/or related support to students participating in the programs; acts as student advocate, and provides day-to-day problem solving as necessary. Oversees and/or coordinates the collection and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations. May plans, develops, and implements strategies for identifying and generating funding and/or resource opportunities for program activities, to include development of grant and other fundraising proposals. Participates in the development of goals and objectives; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate to the unit. Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues. Knowledge of a range of recruitment strategies and techniques. Knowledge of targeted recruitment principles, procedures, and resources. Knowledge of student outreach services and activities.; SKILLS:Data management and records maintenance skills. Performance management skills.; ABILITIES:Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to develop and implement recruitment plans. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to plan community outreach projects. Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements. Job Duties and Responsibilities
This position is an essential member of the College of ACES Academic Program team. Core job duties of this position are to plan, develop and implement key programs and projects in support of high priority student services and initiatives administered by the College of ACES Academic Programs Office inclusive of student recruitment, retention and placement. Coordination and support of the daily activities and operations of this office is also a key job responsibility. The College of ACES has one of the largest college-level scholarship programs at NMSU and as the primary job function, this position will be required to coordinate this program including evaluation of applicants, disbursement of awards and stewardship reporting. Additionally, this position will work closely with the Associate Dean to evaluate and resolve instructional needs in the departments within the college. This position will provide administrative support to the Associate Dean, also. A professional office skillset and a commitment to student-centric customer service are required.

Primary Job Functions:
Manage and Oversee the College’s Scholarship Program
Award, manage and reconcile all College and departmental scholarships. Coordinate with University Advancement, the College’s development officer(s), all eight ACES academic department scholarship committees and other units with related scholarships and financial aid programs.

Administratively Support ACES Academic Programs Office:
Provide professional administrative support to Associate Dean. Take an active role in managing, monitoring, summarizing, and disseminating the I&G budgets with the College, coordinating with academic department heads and with the Office of Business & Resource Planning. Oversee financial and business processes for ACES Academic Programs Office such as purchasing, travel, deposits and other related matters. Work with ACES HR and departments to coordinate adjunct faculty and overage needs each semester. Provide assistance in the understanding and interpretation of NMSU policies and procedures related to promotion & tenure. Handle maintenance of college promotion & tenure information in Watermark, provide yearly training and support to faculty and department heads. Provide support to the Chair of the Colleges promotion & tenure committee during the annual review cycle.

Support Student Services:
Provide support and assist with handling special projects related to student recruitment, retention and placement. Provide training and support to the ACES Ambassadors. Provide backup support for the student services component and functions of the ACES Academic Programs Office, including logistic support for and during registration periods, and student orientation programs. Assist with answering student registration, graduation, and similar questions. Cross training and support/backup of other team members to ensure that student and College needs are met is essential for this job function.

Serve as Liaison to Other Key College and NMSU Units:
Serve as ACES Academic Programs Office liaison to other key campus offices (e.g., Advancement, Communication and Marketing, Student Success, Financial Aid, ACES Dean’s Office, etc.).
Position will require occasional working evenings or weekends depending upon department needs.
