Summary:  The Cooperative Extension Services is looking for CES County Program Assistant position in San Juan County, McKinley County and Cibola County to provide educational and administrative support.

Classification Summary:
Under general supervision responsible paraprofessional work an education program. Provide programs, under direction of county extension agent, in the areas of 4-H, Family & Consumer Sciences and Agriculture. Assist extension agents at County Fairs, local programs and events and school enrichment.

Classification Standard Duties:
Plan, prepare powerpoint presentations, and deliver educational programs to youth and adults. Keeps records and writes reports of work planned and completed. Enter enrollment and conference registration into the 4-H Plus software program. Answers telephone and greets public giving general information regarding all extension programs. Sorts and distributes incoming mail. Types routine letters, labels, and similar items from rough draft or clear copy. Files correspondence, memoranda, reports and other materials. Maintains routine clerical records, logs and data and complies routine reports. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:High School diploma or GED.; Required Experience:Two (2) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of techniques and procedures required in teaching techniques and skills. Knowledge of mass media and computer skills desirable. Ability to take direction and work independently. Ability to communicate with youth and adults.; SKILLS:Communication and basic teaching skills; ABILITIES:Ability to establish and maintain a congenial working relationship with children, associates and the public; follow oral and written instructions; establish effective relationships as a teacher; work in a self-contained or team teaching situation; supervise subordinates; deal with children one-on-one and in groups.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
** Position located in San Juan, McKinney and Cibola County, NM**
The CES County Program Assistant, under the general supervision of the Project Director, will assist in the development and delivery of educational program for farmers and ranchers participating in the NM CES Navajo Sustainable Agriculture educational programs and activities including the BIA Conservation Plan Program.

Preferred Qualifications

Valid Driver's License required.
Personal auto required, reimbursed at IRS rant per mile.
Speaks Navajo.
Experience with Navajo farming and ranching traditions and practices.
Resides in the project area - San Juan, McKinney or Cibola County, NM.

If Not a Standard Work Schedule: Variable Monday - Sunday, 40 hours a week.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
