Classification Summary:
Responsible for one or several broad-based areas within strategic initiatives and relationships unit at a large community college. Conducts research and studies on the institution, including design of studies, data collection, analysis and reporting.
Classification Standard Duties:
Supervises and oversees appointed unit(s) and/or program(s). Assists Chief Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships Officer with gathering data, reports, and other relevant information to make informed data-driven decisions for the community college. Assists with the planning, development, and implementation of a strategic planning process focused on positive impact; provides leadership on the development of a strategic organizational data-driven culture of evidence. Provides leadership on data collection and analysis related to institutional effectiveness and economic impact of the community college. Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the organizational unit, ensuring compliance with the University, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations. Directs all activities of the office of institutional analysis for a large size community college. This is includes data support for institutional effectiveness, strategic planning, institutional research, accountability, accreditation, grant writing support, assessment, program review, program sustainability process, budget analysis data, academic and student services initiatives, operations, challenges, and enrollment. Develops, organizes, implements, and evaluates a community college's strategic planning process. Develops tools to serve as reliable sources of data for this wide-range of activities including enrollment, retention, and graduation initiatives. Supports assessment activities for academic and non-academic assessment. Serves as a critical member of the strategic enrollment management team, along with other associate vice presidents for the college. Elicits student and community feedback and facilitates responses to feedback. Promotes, nurtures, and maintains an internal culture of evidence where data, analysis, and reports are used to make the community college more effective for faculty, staff, administrators, and students. Ensures compliance with national, state, regional accreditation, and NMSU system external accountability reporting requirements. Initiates development of tools to provide a reliable source for college information and data in order to enhance timely and effective communication for all college personnel. Performs numerous and varied special assignments and projects either at the request of or with the approval of the Community College President. Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Dona Ana Community College (DACC), a proud member of the New Mexico State University (NMSU) system, invites applications for the position of Associate Vice President for Institutional Analysis (AVPIA). This is a key leadership opportunity for a creative, experienced, and data-driven professional eager to shape the future of an institution committed to student success and continuous improvement.
The AVPIA will be pivotal in cultivating a culture of data-informed decision-making across the college. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the AVPIA will lead strategic efforts in institutional research, assessment, and analytics that influence academic planning, program evaluation, and resource optimization. This elevated role will work collaboratively with campus leaders and the NMSU system to assess institutional effectiveness and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in institutional research, analysis, and effectiveness, a deep understanding of higher education reporting environments, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree and five or more years of progressively responsible experience utilizing analytics in higher education or a related sector, as well as experience managing institutional research and effectiveness through quantitative and qualitative information. It should also have:
• Ability to use tools for data analysis (such as Oracle SQL, R, SAS, SPSS, etc.) and visualization (such as Tableau, Power BI, Cognos Analytics, SAS Analytics, etc.), and experience with Higher Education Student Information Systems (such as Ellucian Banner or PeopleSoft).
• Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research design, data collection, analysis, and reporting techniques.
• Experience with recent developments, current literature and information, and standards of practice related to institutional planning, effectiveness, and research.
• Experience with management, leadership, problem-solving, and consensus-building. Ability to foster a cooperative and productive work environment.
• Master’s degree in Social or Education Research, Higher Education, Institutional Research and Effectiveness/Assessment, or related field.
