Summary:  NMSU Grants was established as a branch of New Mexico State University in 1968 through the cooperative efforts of New Mexico State University and Grants Municipal Schools. As a two-year branch community college, NMSU Grants serves the local communities in Cibola and McKinley counties, including the Pueblos of Acoma, Laguna, and Zuni, as well as Tohajiilee, San Mateo, San Rafael, Cubero, the City of Grants, and the Village of Milan.

Classification Summary:
This is a full-time, tenure-track, academic-year (9 month), appointment within the Education program at New Mexico State University Grants Community College. The faculty member is responsible for the planning and delivery of quality classroom instruction across multiple delivery formats, assessment of student learning, and service to the shared governance of the college. The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day and evening on the NMSU Grants Campus as well as at off-site locations.

Classification Standard Duties:
• Deliver high-quality instruction in Early Childhood Education and Teaching Pathways courses, including Introduction to Education, Educational Psychology, Early Childhood Curriculum, and other courses as assigned, in various instructional modalities (in-person, hybrid, or online).
• Create and implement innovative learning experiences for students that facilitate the demonstration and evaluation of learning outcomes in a safe and sustainable environment.
• Utilize a variety of appropriate teaching strategies to meet the diverse learners an promote students’ critical thinking skills.
• Support program functions such as textbook selection, curriculum development, and other program needs requiring faculty input.
• Teach and support the development of specialty courses (non-credit based options, dual credit classes, or accelerated courses)
• Provide regular and predictable access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods.
• Instruct, assist, and motivate students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methodologies and informed feedback on assignments and discussions.
• Advise and assist students in planning an educational pathway and selecting courses, and when necessary refer students to appropriate student services for assistance.
• Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and be a positive contributing member of the campus community.
• Represent and promote the Education Program at NMSU system-wide and state meetings as well as in the community.
• Develop, communicate, and utilize a student assessment process and instruments, which are related to the learning outcomes for all courses.
• Pursue ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in the field of early childhood education, secondary education, and higher education.
• Actively participate in college governance and committees, contributing to committee work and college service activities as per NMSU Administrative Rules and Procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Campus Executive & Academic Officer to support the mission and goals of the college.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
• Master's degree in Education from a regionally accredited institution, or
• Master's degree in another discipline from a regionally-accredited institution and at least 18 graduate semester hours in Education or Educational Psychology.
• Three years full-time teaching experience at any level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of the US K-12 Educational System and local/national certification and credentialing policies and processes.
• Knowledge of and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and student population.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in LMS management as well as Microsoft Office applications.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree in Education from a regionally accredited institution and at least 18 graduate semester hours in Education or Educational Psychology.
Ability to teach in at least two area of Education, Early Childhood Education, or Educational Psychology.
Experience teaching at the community college level.
Experience teaching in the Pre-k-12 environment.
Level 3 New Mexico Teaching License
A minimum of 18 graduate hours in Early Childhood Education.
Experience teaching online using CANVAS learning management systems or similar LMS.
Experience working with students from diverse academic, age, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
