Summary: New Mexico State University’s Global Campus seeks an Associate Director of Global Career Services who will lead and develop a high-performing Career Services team while driving innovative career readiness initiatives that prepare online adult learners for long-term success. They will build strategic employer partnerships, integrate career services across the student journey, and ensure measurable career and economic mobility outcomes for students and alumni
Classification Summary:
This role manages and provides strategic direction for career services function serving students, alumni, faculty, and employers. It leads a team focused on career readiness, employer engagement, and professional development tailored to adult learners. The role combines high-level oversight with hands-on operational management, including staff supervision, program development, and evaluation. It ensures services align with institutional goals and are integrated throughout the student lifecycle, from enrollment to post-graduation.
Classification Standard Duties:
Designs, implements, and continuously improves career services and employer engagement initiatives aligned with institutional and workforce trends. Oversee a team of career professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance management to ensure high-quality service delivery. Provides coaching, mentorship, and career guidance to students and alumni, including support with job search strategies, applications, and external opportunities like fellowships and externships. Collaborates with employers to promote student and alumni employment, facilitate recruitment efforts, and expand access to internships and experiential learning. Works closely with academic departments, student affairs, and faculty to embed career readiness throughout the student lifecycle and integrate career services into curriculum and co-curricular programming. Designs and manages workshops, job fairs, networking events, and other programming to enhance student employability and employer engagement. Utilizes career services platforms and data analytics to track student progress, monitor employer interactions, and evaluate program effectiveness. Develops KPIs, conducts performance assessments, and uses data-informed decision-making to guide service improvements and align outcomes with institutional goals.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency

Understanding of current labor market trends, recruitment strategies, and federal, state and university laws and guidelines and procedures. Proficiency with CRM systems, student information platforms, and data governance. Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead, manage, and develop the Global Career Services team, including Career Services Coordinators and Lead/Senior Career Services Coordinators, ensuring a high-touch, high-engagement student support model.
• Develop and implement strategic career readiness initiatives, employer engagement strategies, and professional development programming tailored to online adult learners.
• Collaborate extensively with Graduation Teams (Admissions, Academic Advising, Student Success Mentoring, Career Services, and Financial Aid) to ensure career readiness is integrated into the student journey from the moment a prospective student expresses interest for the first time until well beyond graduation.
• Oversee the development of employer relationships locally, regionally, nationally, and globally to create direct career pathways that offer competitive and sustainable employment opportunities for graduates.
• Establish strategic data collection points throughout the student journey from beginning to well after graduation to monitor, directly track, and report exactly how NMSU Global Campus delivers career and economic mobility for students and alumni.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality career services, including career coaching, resume and cover letter preparation, job search strategies, interview coaching, networking opportunities, among other services.
• Utilize career services technology platforms such as Handshake and other job placement systems to track student career progress, employer engagement, and job placement rates.
• Lead the creation and execution of virtual career fairs, employer panels, and career-related events that enhance career readiness and employability for online students.
• Supervise and train staff in providing career development programming, including workshops, career discussions, career-related training, and employer guest speaker events.
• Establish key performance metrics for career services, tracking the progression of students careers from the admissions stage through their career as an alumni of NMSU, student employment rates, employer engagement levels, and student participation in career development activities.
• Foster a team culture centered on accountability, professional development, and excellence in student career services.
• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), service level agreements (SLAs), and job aids to ensure consistency and effectiveness in career services operations.
• Increase visibility of career services opportunities in all facets of the student journey including in the admissions process, within academic courses, among other areas.
• Work closely with university partners, including faculty, registrars, academic departments, marketing, and academic technology, to ensure seamless career services integration.
• Supervise, train, and onboard new Career Services Coordinators, ensuring all staff are well-equipped to meet service expectations and employer engagement goals.
• Foster a collaborative, goal-oriented team culture with an emphasis on accountability, professional development, and excellence in student career services while cultivating next- level leadership growth.
• Monitor and evaluate advising program effectiveness, implementing continuous improvements based on data-driven insights.
