Classification Summary:
Under indirect supervision, manages and coordinates campus-wide research administration efforts. Provides direction, leadership, and advice in support of sponsored research activities conducted by the university. Reviews, negotiates, and approves proposals and contracts on behalf of the university, ensuring compliance with university and federal regulations in the conduct and administration of research.

Classification Standard Duties:
Manages sponsored research administration functions for the university and various aspects of sponsored research activities including faculty and staff mentoring, funding source matches, and direction of grants library electronic and print resources, newsletters, and directories. Ensures compliance with University, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations in all facets of the daily operations of the organizational unit and specifically in the review, negotiation, and approval of proposals and contracts on behalf of the university. Provides expertise to faculty,research staff, and department and college administrators in development of competitive proposals and pre-award administration of projects as well as funding policies, rules,and regulations. Serves as liaison to external agencies by maintaining contact with governmental and private funding sources to identify current and future interests. Coordinates campus-wide training in proposal writing, research administration, funding source database usage, and special project outreach. Coordinates and produces special reports, proposals, and analyses for the university and for federal, state, educational, and other funding and regulatory agencies. Develops or assists with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, objectives, and short and long range planning consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of the unit. Develops annual operating budgets and provides fiscal direction to the unit. Develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals. Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies. Supervises professional or support staff as appropriate. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of government and industry sponsored research and development programs. Knowledge of contracting process and associated local, state, federal, and other regulations. Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, federal and university regulations. Knowledge of contracts and grants preparation and management. Knowledge of federal, state and/or community funding sources and mechanisms. Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures. Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Doña Ana Community College (DACC) Grants Manager position is essential for enhancing DACC's ability to effectively manage and develop multiple federal, state, corporate/foundation and local grants. This role will provide strategic direction and leadership, fostering collaboration among principal investigators, grant coordinators, administration, and faculty to establish a cohesive grants office that maximizes our funding opportunities.
As DACC secures an increasing number of successful grants, such as Title III, Title V, NSF, Perkins, and various foundation grants, the Grants Manager will uphold fiscal responsibility while ensuring that all initiatives align with the college's mission and objectives. This position will not only review, negotiate, and approve proposals for submission ensuring compliance with university and federal regulations, but will also provide valuable expertise in developing competitive proposals and navigating funding policies.
Moreover, the Grants Manager will coordinate campus-wide training in proposal writing and administration, helping faculty and staff identify funding sources and enhancing their grant-seeking skills. By maintaining relationships with governmental and private funding agencies, this role will position DACC to respond proactively to current and future funding opportunities. Through these efforts, the Grants Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the success of our students and the community, ultimately contributing to the overarching goals of our university system and DACC’s strategic plan.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years of professional experience of increasingly progressive management experience with grants and contracts, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a solid understanding of grant development.

Special Requirements of the Position
Position is based at the DACC East Mesa campus, with a designated office in DAEM 208C within the Strategic Initiatives and Relationships suite. This role requires occasional travel to partner organizations, funding agencies, and collaborative meetings to establish and maintain essential relationships critical to grant acquisition and management success.
