Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Analyst (TA) is a member of the IT – Enterprise Software Solutions team at New Mexico State University. In this role you will serve as a key participant on a team that drive the assessment, analysis, and development of requirements and process workflows for various departments. The goal for the team is to ensure the correct functionality, requirements and industry standards are used to develop and maintain all applications within the Ellucian ERP suite of products. The TA will also be responsible for extensive data analysis and reporting, and collaborating within the team as well as with diverse constituents across the university to develop solutions for problem resolution and process enhancement opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Business Analyst or Process Analyst in a dynamic environment that utilizes an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. Higher Education experience is preferred but not required, but the incumbent must be able to learn and adapt to the higher education domain and become productive as quickly as possible. Critical skills needed to succeed are: a keen awareness and empathy in managing student, faculty, and staff expectations and the ability to build solid relationships within his/her team and among the diverse constituencies at NMSU. Above all, the two most critical success factors for this role are:

Serves as the technical liaison between IT technical resources and assigned functional units. Responsible for understanding functional unit technical system needs and coordinating deployment/work efforts as needed to achieve the NMSU's IT strategic vision. Partners with Business Process Analyst. Serve as a key participant on a team that drive the assessment, analysis, and development of requirements and process workflows for various departments. Staying proficient on all technologies. Coordinating projects, delivering projects on-time. Working with other departments across IT to ensure projects are completed.

Provides technical assistance to users or other departments, helping to troubleshoot problems and improve system performance. Responsible for an area of focus to become the technical expert to understand the business and processes of assigned area.

· Participate in documentation of business requirements and functional specifications for new and existing modules of software used by the University
· Accurately interpret end user requirements and communicate to the development team
· Work closely with development and functional teams to ensure that the delivered capability meets departmental requirements and industry standards
· Support end users in resolving product related issues such as data challenges, and identifying areas of improvement and needed system changes
· Develop and maintain Functional Requirements throughout entire project lifecycle
· Determine opportunities for automation and improvement of current processes
· Work with constituents across the NMSU community to streamline existing processes and help ensure they align with University goals and objectives
· Work closely with other Analysts to determine priorities, schedules, and manage any required changes in scope
· Work closely with the Help Desk to ensure that appropriate documentation, support, and training related to new functionality is provided to end-users.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
Associate's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
