Advertising Summary: NMSU Student Life is seeking a detail-oriented Fiscal Assistant Senior to support financial operations for various areas within Student Life to include ASNMSU. This full-time, non-exempt position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing budgets and expenditures across multiple funding sources, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and fiscal accountability. The role includes preparing and reviewing accounting transactions, monitoring financial system reports, and supporting financial and payroll processes in collaboration with campus partners. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting student-centered operations in a collaborative office environment. This is an AFSCME bargaining unit position, based in Las Cruces, with a standard Monday–Friday work schedule.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Analyze and review; budgets and expenditures for local, I&G and Student Fee funds including ASNMSU ensuring compliance with fiscal accountability and reporting and funding requirements. Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness; prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, and payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting transactions. Develop accounting applications; oversee the input and handling of financial data and reports for the institution's finance and human resources systems.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
High School diploma + 3 years of relevant experience or an Associate’s
Degree + 1 year of relevant experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity.
