Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Teach 30 credit hours over fall and spring semesters. Teaching assignment will include day, evenings, weekends, and/or multiple campus locations. Develop, revise and update curriculum in collaboration with the department faculty and chair. May develop and teach online courses. Instruct, support, advise and provide timely feedback to students in accordance with DACC policy and procedures. Participate in and serve on department, division, and college committees, program advisory councils, task forces and working groups. Maintain professional and academic competence and participate in professional development activities. Maintain office hours as mandated by division and college policy. Advise and mentor students. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
Master's Degree in Rhetoric and Composition, English, or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in English.

Two (2) years full-time equivalent post-secondary Composition teaching experience

Equivalent Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications: 
Experience teaching developmental writing/composition

Experience teaching general education courses (e.g. Composition, Writing in the Humanities & Social Sciences, Professional and Technical Communication, or other related course)

Knowledge of innovative, creative teaching and learning methodologies for post-secondary students

Experience with and knowledge of instructional and online technologies

Experience with quality online teaching and learning and familiar with learning management systems

Experience in developing curriculum and assessing and improving student learning

Demonstrated experience with or endorsement of the teaching philosophy of DACC which supports students’ academic goals and educational advancement

Demonstrated experience teaching and relating to students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. Bilingual will be considered an asset.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with students, colleagues, staff, supervisors, and the community

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
