Job Duties and Responsibilities: Support of our faculty research efforts help maintain and ensure the quality of the faculty research activities at NMSU. The College of Engineering Aggie innovation Space works closely with the Arrowhead Center and their economic development activities to support students, faculty, industry, and entrepreneurs. The Mechanical Technician position will provide a level of expertise that will allow the Aggie Innovation Space and Arrowhead Center to assist students, faculty, and industry in taking concepts to manufacture-ready products.
Select duties include:
- Perform routine maintenance of AIS equipment, install new components, equipment, and systems. Design and fabricate components, equipment, and systems as needed in support of student, faculty, outreach, and Arrowhead Center project activities. Provide technical support for student, faculty, outreach, and Arrowhead Center project activities
- Perform routine maintenance of lab equipment, design and fabricate of components, equipment, and systems needed to support instructional labs.
- Assist in the design and fabrication of components and electronic systems to support faculty and students with their research efforts.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma + 4 years of relevant experience or an Associate’s
Degree + 2 years of relevant experience.

Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Risk: Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
