FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Bargaining Unit Announcement: This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Contingent Upon Funding: Contingent upon external funding

Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Installation and maintenance repairs. Assists plumber and electrician with maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Performs carpentry maintenance jobs such as interior and exterior painting, texturing, window and door installations and repairs of cabinets and furniture. Assist with replacing of lights, fixtures, switches, outlets, photo cells, tubes, contactors and motor control knowledge ( 3 years exp). Erection of new walls and demolition of walls, tape texture and paint. Roofing repair and maintenance. Monitor ventilation of heating and cooling systems. Will repair or replace parts as needed. Will assist with the installation on water coolers. Knowledge of one or more building trades. License or certificates preferred but not required.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
High School diploma or higher degree.

Special Certification/Licensure: 
Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position is subject to random drug testing in compliance with its drug-free workplace requirements. This position has been established as a primary key position under the “All Hazard Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP)” and is essential to operational continuity and/or recovery. In an emergency situation, primary key positions are required to report to work unless directed by supervisor or public safety authorities not to report for health and safety reasons.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
