Job Duties and Responsibilities: Manages the integrated support activities for an academic and research department. Participates in the department's financial planning. Develops and administers program budgets and funding and oversees the day-to-day administration of the unit. Annual departmental budget of $135,000, management of student and online course fees of more than $70,000.00 per academic year. Reviews previous years’ expenditures for the stockroom, colloquiums, recruitment, etc. to participate in the creation of the fiscal year budgets for each internal unit. Analysis of income and expenditures for the departmental accounts to guide strategic planning of budget availability for proposed faculty start-up contributions. Maintains internal files for faculty to monitor and evaluate expenditures in research accounts. Oversees building operations and participates in capital project improvement meetings for the department.
Provides technical expertise, consultation, and leadership in the building’s operations, including department inventory and property management. Processes capital equipment purchases and other procurement as needed.
Provide faculty with pertinent departmental statistics and information, such as enrollment and retention, as required by granting agencies for proposal submission. Synthesize income, expenditure, and award information for the annual American Chemical Society accreditation report. May provide reports related to retention, personnel records; develops, writes, and presents comprehensive statistical and narrative departmental reports. Processes the hiring of approximately 23 faculty members, 10 research/temporary faculty members, approximately 30 staff members, provides backup for an additional 45-60 graduate students, and an estimated 40 student employees hiring. Serves as HR liaison to the College. Review and consult with the department head on internal procedures to be followed by faculty and staff for the processing of purchasing requests. Monitors all purchase card activity for faculty and staff. Liaison to the Foundation for scholarship review and modification and assists with awarding of scholarships and awards for the department. With the guidance provided by the dept Head; may assist with strategies and mechanisms to promote and expand departmental activity and donations through various media, and face-to-face contact. Creates recruiting brochures for Undergraduate and Graduate students to promote existing and new programs.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree + 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
