Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Agricultural and Extension Education (AXED) is pleased to announce a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Agricultural Education position in the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at New Mexico State University (NMSU). The workload allocation is 75% teaching and 25% research. Applicants who have completed all doctoral coursework and are actively working on their dissertation, i.e., ABD, will be considered.

The candidate will: (1) communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, including stakeholders, policymakers, and academic leaders; (2) create a research agenda with national and international relevance to ensure their research can be published in appropriate academic outlets; (3) secure and maintain extramural funding; (4) advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels; (5) supervise student teachers and other interns; (6) lead effective recruitment and retention initiatives; (7) advise student organizations; (8) serve on departmental, college, and university committees; (9) lead effective professional development and outreach efforts for relevant stakeholders;
(10) engage regularly with school-based agricultural education teachers and FFA Advisors, and student recruitment and retention efforts at the department, college, and university levels; and (11) demonstrate a strong commitment to the core values of excellence, innovation, diversity, global engagement, and public accountability.
This position will also foster collaborations and participate in activities and on research teams that support the work of the Center for Excellence in Sustainable Food and Agricultural Systems (CESFAS.)

The Department of AXED provides students with content knowledge, technical skills, and applied experience that will prepare them to become successful teachers, agents, communicators, and industry professionals. The department offers a B.S. in Agricultural and Extension Education with concentrations in formal teaching, agricultural communications, and community development and Extension. AXED also offers a face-to-face or online M.A. in Agricultural and Extension Education with emphasis areas in teaching, Extension and non-formal education, agricultural communications, and international and development. Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in agricultural education or a closely related field, as well as a minimum of three years of professional experience teaching agricultural education at the middle or high school level. Applicants must have a background in the social sciences and teaching expertise that can support our growing undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to preparing future teachers and to graduate education. The candidate should also have experience with online course development and instruction.

The AXED Department and the College of ACES more broadly are diverse and multicultural. Therefore, the selected candidate must be able to work effectively with individuals from a range of backgrounds and be willing to operate in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Preference will be given to applicants with experience and a passion for integrating innovative educational technologies (e.g., 3-D printing, artificial intelligence (Al), agricultural mechanics, precision agriculture, drones, etc.) into a curriculum designed to prepare future agricultural education teachers with modern workforce development skills. Applicants who are outstanding instructors with experience teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats are also preferred.
