Target Hourly/Salary Rate: $32,136.00 - $55,000

Appointment Full-time Equivalency: 1.0

FLSA Status: Exempt

Bargaining Unit Announcement: This is NOT a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Contingent Upon Funding: Contingent upon external funding

Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Plan and implement Reggio inspired curriculum based on Pre-K policy brief and New Mexico's curriculum framework. Oversees classroom management. Observe and assess children's developmental progress. Document growth and development of children using Pre-K or Focus assessments. Maintain portfolios on children in caseload. Establish relationships with families. Mentors and guides student employees. Mentors and guides student employees, practicum students and student teachers.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
Associate's Degree + 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree.

Equivalent Qualifications: 

Preferred Qualifications: 
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education.

One year experience in a state-funded pre-k classroom setting, with the use of Pre-K standards and guidelines. Experience working with practicum students, future teachers and team teaching situations.

Special Certification/Licensure: 
Must be willing to conduct home visits during times that families are available and monthly family events outside of the normal business hours. First Aid/CPR required as well as a state background clearance, upon hire.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed indoors.

Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
