Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Human Resources Specialist Associate for Central Employment and Compensation supports a wide range of human resources operations with a focus on hiring processes, personnel actions, records management, and compliance-related activates. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely processing of HR transactions while maintaining confidentiality and adherence to institutional policies.

Prepare and process hiring proposals and job postings for non-exempt positions.
Review and approve Handshake postings for student employment opportunities.
Audit student employee and graduate assistant hires to ensure accuracy and completeness of hiring documentation.
Review, prepare, and submit EPAFs and PAFs for non-exempt and student personnel actions.
Initiate and manage TAS background checks for applicable hires.
Triage and assign incoming HR ticket requests to the appropriate HR Business Partner.
Create and maintain personnel file records in compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
Assist with IPRA and subpoena requests, ensuring timely and accurate document support.
Support verification of employment requests.
Perform transcript coding and maintain related records.
Conduct research related to HRS requests and provide accurate information or recommendations.
Maintain and process mailed and faxed HR forms, ensuring proper documentation and routing.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
High School diploma + 3 years of relevant experience or an Associate's Degree + 1 year of relevant experience.

Equivalent Qualifications: 
Professional certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP may be considered as partial fulfillment of educational requirements, particularly when combined with relevant experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.

Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
