Job Duties and Responsibilities: This position plans, directs, and supervises construction and maintenance activities for a designated campus area, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. The incumbent inspects buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify repair needs and recommends cost-effective solutions. They assign and oversee work for various crews, including roofers, plumbers, welders, electricians, carpenters, and laborers. Responsibilities include managing inventory, requisitioning materials, and maintaining tools and equipment. The position collaborates with leadership on budgeting and planning, participates in hiring and training staff and evaluates employee performance. The incumbent develops and enforces operational policies and ensures all work comply with building codes and specifications. They maintain records, prepare reports, monitor safety and security protocols, assist with building scheduling, and perform related duties to support campus infrastructure maintenance.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
High School diploma + 3 years of relevant experience or an Associate's Degree + 1 year of relevant experience.
Equivalent Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
Exceptional knowledge of construction/maintenance and repair of major facilities; general
materials construction and repair work, heating, welding, roofing, cement finishing, roadwork, electrical and plumbing systems; must know work production, completion measures. Master crafts skills in the use of tools and equipment used in the maintenance profession. Skill in operation of electronic test equipment and facilities management computer. Superior ability to plan, organize, prioritize work, meet deadlines and supervise work of construction/maintenance employees including roofers, carpenters, welders, equipment operators, cement finishers and laborers; leadership ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to maintain records and to prepare reports; read and interpret specifications; operate electrical and mechanical equipment. CDL preferred
Special Certification/Licensure:

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Environment: Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements: i.e. extreme temp, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, other potentially dangerous materials/situations that require safety precaution/protective equip
Physical Effort: Considerable physical activity. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
Lifting Requirements: Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
