Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Nurse Practitioner or Physicians Assistant provides medical services in the out patient clinic including history and physical assessment of presenting problems, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory tests, X-ray, EKG), developing and initiating a treatment plan and following up as appropriate. Health education on disease prevention and health maintenance, consultation with in-house physicians and/or referral to specialists where indicated. Serves on committees within the facility to develop plans for change to improve the quality of patient care. Develops, reviews, and updated policies and protocols for patient care. Attends in-house scheduled conferences and provides outreach education with the Health Educator.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing + 5 years of professional nursing experience and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and current New Mexico APRN/CNP licensure required.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Environment: Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment.
Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
