Job Duties and Responsibilities: The role will focus on market research for commercialization of inventions and patents from NMSU faculty researchers and targeted marketing/promotion of NMSU intellectual property (IP). The role involves performing commercialization market research as well as establishing and managing a program for student interns who conduct specialized commercialization-focused market research. Additionally, the commercialization marketing manager will develop and execute targeted campaigns for promotion and marketing of specific technologies. This manager will also serve as a liaison to foster faculty invention mentorship while supporting other relevant IP commercialization activities.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Associate’s Degree + 8 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree
+ 6 years of relevant experience. Master's degree or higher preferred.
Equivalent Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer and Commercialization principles and agreements, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, Memorandum of Understanding, Invention Disclosures, Patents, Technology Valuation, and Licenses.
• Experience in marketing including marketing research for advanced technology commercialization.
• Experience in regional and national innovation ecosystems and resources that support technology commercialization initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with innovation ecosystem stakeholders, including industry partners, entrepreneurs, investors, economic development organizations, technology accelerators, business incubators, and venture studios.
• Experience working with faculty and laboratory researchers and inventors, entrepreneurs, start-up leaders and innovation driven organizations to advance commercialization initiatives.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and collaborations across research, intellectual property, business development and marketing, and economic development organizations.
