General Information:

The Office of Financial Reporting seeks a Reports Accountant to join us in supporting the University’s mission by producing reliable, timely financial information and transactions. We are a customer-service oriented office with a strong commitment to quality, integrity, and professionalism.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare/compile information for a variety of internal management or external use financial reports, including (but not limited to): monthly revenue report, quarterly accounts receivable, Board of Visitors reports, financial review reports, and annual NCAA reporting. Also prepare or assist with a variety of other financial reports as needed (reports to DOA, SCHEV, etc.).
  • Assist in the preparation of supporting work papers for the University's annual financial statements.
  • Analyze and interpret complex financial data in order to keep middle and senior level management aware of financial changes and trends.
  • Ensure that financial accounting policies and procedures relating to compatibility, comparability, and consistency are met.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Director and Assistant Director of Financial Reporting to ensure the financial information system's integrity and assist in the testing of system upgrade processes.
  • Serve as backup for duties related to department ID setup in the finance system as well as daily processing of financial transactions.
  • Review, analyze and approve proposed accounting transactions (ATVs) to the finance system and Cardinal.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • General working knowledge of accounting principles as defined by GAAP as well as a general working knowledge of office procedures and practices.
  • The ability to work independently with minor supervision and to work effectively with other employees both within the department and across the University community.
  • Work effectively under pressure when necessary to meet deadlines, etc.
  • Computer experience is required, with a focus in Excel or other spreadsheets preferred.
