General Information:

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS) at James Madison University (JMU) seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Applicants with expertise across all areas of audiology are encouraged to apply.

The qualified candidate will join a thriving and collegial academic unit with 18 full-time faculty and six part-time faculty with additional adjunct and clinical educators as needed. The department serves an average of 320 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate students across multiple degree-granting academic programs (https://csd.jmu.edu/index.html). The department has state-of-the-art audiology and speech-language pathology clinics with rich community outreach. We have a shared vision to be recognized for bridging science and clinical practice. Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities for the position include teaching, scholarship, and professional, community, and/or university service. The qualified candidate will teach courses in the Au.D. and undergraduate programs, with opportunities to teach Ph.D. courses.

 

Qualifications:

Qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor
• A Ph.D. in Audiology, Communication Sciences & Disorders, or related field.
• Evidence of independent scholarship based on published works and/or external funding.
• Demonstrate potential for quality teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Demonstrate potential to serve the department, college, university, and/or community.
• Experience with formal or informal mentoring of students.
• Clinical experience is preferred, but certification (CCC-A) and/or eligibility for state licensure are optional.

Qualifications for the rank of Associate Professor
• A Ph.D. in Audiology, Communication Sciences & Disorders, or related field.
• Evidence of substantial scholarship and publication record.
• Record of securing research grants and mentoring PhD students.
• Evidence of quality teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Evidence of service to the department, college, university, and/or community.
• Evidence of leadership skills and experience with formal mentoring of students.
• Clinical experience is preferred, but certification (CCC-A) and/or eligibility for state licensure are optional.
