Founded in 2022, the American Political Reform & Innovation Lab (APRILab) in the College of Arts and Letters is a nonpartisan, civic- and community-engaged political science and data science research lab. APRILab produces original, evidence-based research on institutional political reform in collaboration with internal and external social scientists and data scientists, and with leading experts in the national political reform advocacy community. The lab’s research addresses significant, real-world problems posed by institutional dysfunction, democratic backsliding, and unequal political influence. APRILab is seeking undergraduate and graduate lab associates to begin working in Fall 2022. The duties will require 5 to 20 hours per week depending on student qualifications, undergraduate or graduate status, and scheduling needs. Research Development Manager in Harrisonburg
The Research Development Manager (RDM) works directly with faculty and staff to catalyze and manage the proposal development process to help produce highly competitive proposals for research and programmatic funding. They provide strategic support in identifying and securing external funding. The RDM works with the staff in the Offices of Research Development, Office of Sponsored Programs, and Corporate and Foundation Relations to manage the development of a growing portfolio of external funding proposals for the college for new and continuing large-scale research and programmatic projects. 50% of the RDM’s time will be devoted specifically to serving the College of Education, with the remaining time devoted to the central Office of Research Development as well as strategically identified units. The Department of Geology and Environmental Science at James Madison University offers bachelor’s degrees in Geology and Environmental Earth Science for approximately 110 majors in our multi-track baccalaureate-only program, as well as minors in Geology, Climate Science, and Geophysics. In addition, we support interdisciplinary minors in Environmental Science and Data Analytics and prepare students for Earth Science teaching careers. We also offer a capstone summer field course. Faculty teach within the major and contribute significantly to General Education at JMU.
