Position Overview

Join Lynn Seaton's Jazz Double Bass Workshop at the University of North Texas (UNT) as a supporting musician. This role involves assisting with workshop activities, mentoring participants, leading ensemble rehearsals, and providing performance guidance. You will collaborate closely with renowned jazz bassist and educator Lynn Seaton, contributing to a dynamic learning environment. This position offers the opportunity to refine your teaching skills, inspire young musicians, and be part of a prestigious jazz education program.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance or 5 years experience as a performing jazz musician.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate for this position should possess advanced knowledge of jazz performance and pedagogy. Strong skills in ensemble direction, improvisation, and sight-reading are essential. Effective communication and mentoring abilities are crucial for guiding workshop participants. A collaborative spirit and a passion for education, akin to guiding an apprentice or fellow learner, are key attributes. The ability to inspire and nurture young musicians, fostering their growth and creativity, is highly valued in this role.

Job Duties

  • Help facilitate and perform at Lynn Seaton Bass Camp 
  • Assisting with workshop activities, mentoring participants, leading ensemble rehearsals, and providing performance guidance. You will collaborate closely with renowned jazz bassist and educator Lynn Seaton, contributing to a dynamic learning environment.

Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
