Position Overview The BMEN Laboratory Manager is expected to assist faculty, graduate and undergraduate researchers, and postdoctoral fellows with technical and other support as needed for all BMEN laboratories, classes and research projects. The candidate must have strong communication skills and be knowledgeable of common laboratory tools and software. Experience with one or more of hardware, data acquisition software, biomaterial characterization, as well as biological instrumentation, is desirable, as is experience with the design and outfitting of laboratory experiments. |

Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in related field and two years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role. |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of equipment and instrumentation appropriate to the nature of the lab and/or the discipline, and of supplies including operation, setup, storage, and maintenance. Working knowledge of instructional applications related to the laboratory and/or the discipline. Ability to make effective presentations of experiments or software, and provide instruction in laboratory techniques, use of equipment, use of software, procedures, and safety rules. Ability to supervise work performed by others. |

Preferred Qualifications The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Masters in Biomedical Engineering/Materials Science and Engineering/Biology or related field with three years experience in related field. Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering/Materials Science and Engineering/Biology or related field and four years experience in related field or eight years experience in related field. The candidate must have strong communication skills and be knowledgeable of common laboratory tools and software, spectroscopy, biomaterial characterization, as well as biological instrumentation, is desirable, as is experience with the design and outfitting of laboratory experiments. |
